About these terms

joinsbnp.org is run by Shoot Basketballs NOT People (“SBNP,” “we,” “us”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (EIN 46-1767733). By using this site you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Using the site

You are welcome to use this site to learn about SBNP and get involved. Please:

• Use it only for lawful purposes.
• Give true information in our forms, and only your own (or your child’s, if you are their parent or guardian).
• Don’t send spam, try to get around our security checks, or do anything that could harm the site or the people who use it.

Donations

• Online gifts are completed on our secure Shopify checkout at store.joinsbnp.org, so the store’s terms of service also apply.
• Refunds follow our store’s refund policy. In short, donations are gifts and are generally non-refundable, but if you gave by mistake or were charged the wrong amount, contact us within 30 days and we will refund it.
• SBNP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and gifts are tax-deductible as the law allows. What you can deduct depends on your own tax situation, so please check with a tax adviser.
• If you choose a thank-you tee or hoodie, its value (shown on our Donate page) is not deductible: only the part of your gift above that value is. Shipping for thank-you items is not part of your donation.
• Your Shopify receipt shows what you gave. Please keep it for your records.
• Gifts support SBNP’s charitable programs, and SBNP decides how best to use them for its mission.

Emails and texts

If you sign up for our newsletter or texts, you can stop at any time. The details, including our text message terms, are in the Text messages section of our Privacy Policy.

Our name, logo and content

The Shoot Basketballs NOT People name and logo, and the photos, videos, writing and design on this site, belong to SBNP or are used with permission. You are welcome to share links to our pages, and to share the Philly Safety Data share card and printable handout as they are, for non-commercial purposes. For anything else, including using our name or logo, please ask us first.

If you see a photo of yourself or your child on this site that you would like taken down, contact us and we will review it.

Philly Safety Data

Our Philly Safety Data page shows public data from the City of Philadelphia and other public sources listed on that page. We show it as it is, without any warranty. The City may update or correct its numbers, and ours may lag behind or contain mistakes. The list of courts and safe places is not a promise that a place is open or safe at any given time.

This site is not for emergencies. If someone is in danger, call 911. For crisis support, call or text 988.

Not professional advice

Information on this site is for general learning only. It is not legal, medical, mental health or other professional advice.

Other websites

We link to other websites and use outside services, such as Shopify, YouTube, social media and City of Philadelphia pages. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or how they work. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

No warranty

We work hard to keep this site accurate and running, but it is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will always be available, free of errors or free of harmful code.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, SBNP and its board, staff and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of this site or anything linked from it. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Pennsylvania law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Any dispute about them or this site will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
